"Topaz" Apples

Topaz is a medium-sized apple obtained by crossing the varieties "Rubin" and "Vanda". It has a smooth skin with a yellow ground colour, often with large red or orange-red stripes. The flesh is crunchy and creamy. The taste of Topaz is juicy and acidic and is described as "crisp and crunchy".

Topaz is the first significant scab-resistant variety in the German-speaking world. For this reason, the apple is particularly popular in organic cultivation. Topaz has a more pronounced acidity than Granny Smith and is visually very recognizable due to its particularly flat shape.
