Statement by Zwergenwiese on the Ökotest evaluation 05/2017
During the test in the current issue of Ökotest, the following questions were asked in our
Spread 'Arrabitom' low levels of contaminants found. These are indeed
very low and are below the legal limits, but led to
a significant devaluation of the product. We would like to stress that no
there is a health hazard from the tested product!
After the preliminary information by Ökotest, we immediately received the current
available batch by an independent institute.
This batch is faultless, NO harmful substances were detected.
Fat contaminants 3-MCPD and glycidyl ester found in the test batch:
3-MCPD can occur when oil is heated too hot during oil production.
Our oil supplier has informed us that an illogicality in the assessment of
values, with respect to the 3-MCPD is available.
The daily intake (TDI) of a 60 kg human being
is 48 μg per day. We are enclosed with the tested batch of spread
a 30 g portion at 22 μg. Therefore, there is no danger for the
End users.
The calculation based on the analysis of the currently available batch results
a value which is even only 0.00047μg 3-MCPD per portion.
Although the values are far below the limit values, this does not correspond
our high quality standards. To be on the safe side, we will in future
have each batch tested for 3-MCPD.

MOSH/ POSH (mineral oil)
We would like to point out that the value of 0.8 mg/kg determined by Öko-Test
MOSH/POSH is far below the limit value of 2 mg/kg
Öko-Test has based its own limit value of 0.5 mg/kg.
In our view, to speak of "elevated" leads to an uncertainty of
consumers.
The limit of determination (= lowest concentration of a substance that can be detected with a defined
precision can be determined, only above the limit of determination are quantitative
analysis results possible) for MOAH is 1 mg/kg (ecotest
value 0,8 mg/kg) and for MOSH/POSH at 2 mg/kg.
There is also an analytical scatter range.
Furthermore, there are no validated
Research methods.
The DGF (German Society for Fat Research) confirms that
Interlaboratory tests at different laboratories with the same sample of edible oil to
very different results of the investigation.
We will send our clarification of the analysis evaluation to Öko-Test.
Basically, we do everything possible to prevent the entry of these not
to prevent the introduction of undesirable substances into our products. We're going to have our
products continue to be tested for these substances, this topic
and help to improve the analytical methods.
