In the heart of Rhône-Alpes, in the department of Savoie, less than an hour from Lyon and Grenoble, the "Coopérative Laitière de Yenne" is located in the middle of a picturesque landscape
at the foot of the "Dent du Chat" mountain. Nestled between rivers, lakes, mountains and vast pastures, nature here is generous and offers preserved spaces of exceptional diversity. Dairy
farming has an important place in the economic life of the Alps. Local dairy cows graze on the vast pastures of the southern slopes, known for their resilience, their cross-country ability
and - of course - their excellent milk, a rich flora. The "Mont du Chat" is a mountain that peaks at an altitude of 1,390 meters. The peak has the shape of a dog and the term "cat" has the
very old meaning of "passage" as in the "eye of a needle". Legend has it that a cat took up residence on a ledge of the "Dent du Chat", from where it terrorized travellers crossing the
pass. If you venture up the mountain, you have a breathtaking panoramic view of Mont Blanc, the Vanoise, the Bauges, the Belledonne and the Chartreuse. Crossing the pass leads to the Savoy
foothills and the municipality of Yenne, where the "Coopérative de Yenne" collects its milk from 52 farms, employs 44 people and processes around 19 million liters of milk every year. Its
strength is the successful combination of modern technology with traditional production methods and masterful affinage. This ancient knowledge and many years of experience result in cheese
creations that offer an exceptional taste experience.
Full-bodied red wines such as Bordeaux and Barbaresco are recommended with Meule de Savoie Réserve. Those who prefer a
white wine should opt for sweet varieties such as Recioto di Soave and Breganze Torcolato.
